I really like the Dutch Crunch sandwich. Every tourist to SF should try it cause I haven't seen it anywhere else. This location is closer to me but the customer service/training needs to improve. When I asked about my free rewards sandwich for signing up, none of the workers know what I'm talking about and unfamiliar with the rewards program. Later on, I found out that I need to buy a sandwich first after my sign up for the rewards program for the free sandwich to kick in for my next visit. I was confused and thought I'll get it during this visit. So the first time I visited was at the Stonestown location and I signed up for the rewards program after my purchase. Because I signed up after paying, the worker said the stars and free sandwich doesn't count this time. Second time I ate Ike's was my church's catering order so it didn't count since I didn't order it. Third time was today's visit. Only 1 woman is fluent in English who was working today but she is unfamiliar with how the free sandwich works. I finally figured it out by logging into the rewards website online. The menu on the wall is also not up to date cause there is no "I'm almost a vegetarian" sandwich listed but it's listed on the website when I ordered online for pickup. There are nice pictures of Draymond Green from the Golden State Warriors visiting and 2 other celebrities/stars near the seating area. It's also nice that they have a few tables and seats to eat half of my sandwich after pickup. I'll try the Matt Cain sandwich next time when I pickup my free sandwich. I highly recommend the I'm almost a vegetarian sandwich if you're ordering online. It's so yummy with the pesto sauce, marinated artichoke hearts, and mushrooms.
I have not eaten at Ike's in ages, almost forgot the place existed. Friends of mine were ordering in and decided on Ike's to go. Browsing the menu, they have a menu of meatless options with flavor profiles that do not bore the tastebuds - 9 selections in total. I decided on the #243 - I Ch-Ch-Choose You - a meatless option under the Veggie category. It is a vegan chicken sandwich with Jamaican jerk sauce, avocado, and pepper jack (to mine I added mushrooms). The flavor combination was creamy, ate like chicken and has nice symphony of flavor profiles that combines perfectly. The Dutch crunch was toasted just right - soft with a little crunch. The portions are plentiful. I was unable to finish half of the sandwich before being full. I ate the other half the following morning, I was hungry! It still ate and tasted the same. The bread was still soft with less crunch but not soggy one bit. I would consider Ike's as an option for lunch. The order was ready by the time specified and made exactly as customized. Staff was friendly during pickup and the mobile app made it a breeze to select, customize and pay.
I'll start by acknowledging that I'm not a big sandwich person in general, but I appreciate the variety of options and customizations that Ike's has! Ike's has a free birthday sandwich (no purchase required!) if you sign up for their rewards program at least 14 days ahead of your birthday. You then have 14 days to use the credit! I ordered takeout ahead of time in their app: the ménage à trois on their classic Dutch crunch bread. This is the way to go because this location doesn't have good parking options. My sandwich was quickly made and ready to go by my pickup time!

I have no idea why the overall rating is low, I always order Ikes for catering for my office and it's always been a huge hit. It's pretty much my go-to sandwich shop for catering lunches and everyone is always satisfied. They cut the sandwiches into halves which is nice because you can mix and match to try different things. Definitely recommend!
Great Subs and the dirty sauce is very tasty. I really enjoyed the Paul Reuben. Unique spot here in San Francisco.
First time trying Ike's, and I can honestly say now that I understand the hype. Food: I got the Elvis Kieth (halal chicken, wasabi mayo, teriyaki sauce) with tomato, lettuce, and extra Dirty Sauce (The house special garlic aoili, try it!). Plenty of sauce, plenty of meat, I couldn't ask for more! It's a large, filling sandwich, and I'll probably finish my second half later. The wasabi mayo brings a small hint of spice, though it's subtle. The teriyaki sauce pairs well, bringing the sweetness to level out the more savory heat. Service: quick and friendly, order at the front register and pick up your order when they call your name. I waited less than 10 mins. Ambiance: there's a little bit of seating, but this looks like more of a place to grab a quick bite or take it to go. Be mindful of your surroundings if visiting later at night!
Coffee, donuts, sandwiches, the things you almost can't fall down without hitting a spot for any of the above. That's a good and bad thing because it makes it much harder to find the places you really like and which to avoid. Ike's is a great spot with an inventive menu that's got a lot of options, even though there are several sandwiches that are very similar. That's okay though, the only thing you need to know about is the Matt Cain, an extraordinary pitcher and just as good of a sandwich. I usually don't like warm sandos but this is one I make an exception for.
